Interested in learning how to write and publish op-eds and letters in press outlets? Join Ellen Schrecker, Claudia Koonz, and Margaret Power who will share their experience and expertise about writing effective op-eds and letters that get published on June 28th at 5:00pm eastern/4:00pm Central.
To RSVP and receive the zoom link please fill out this google form: https://forms.gle/gMYu8qRBSN2bGN1P6

To make the workshop as productive as possible, we ask you to do two things. First, come with an idea or ideas about what you would like to write about. (If you don’t have any at the moment, still come and get inspired!) Second, please read the following three letters or op-eds by the presenters. Each of the presenters will briefly discuss her piece, why she thinks it was published, and what are its strong points.

(1) An op-ed by Claudia Koonz, “The South African election that should sound an alarm bell for Americans,” Washington Post, December 12, 2021.
(2) A letter to the Editors by Ellen Schrecker. New York Times, June 20, 2021, Hers is the second letter.
(3) A letter by Margaret Power, “I teach my students to see the complexity of history,” Chicago Tribune, June 6, 2022.
