Dear friends,
We have been busy, generating action on multiple fronts.
- Our letter calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza will be sent to President Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, Majority Leader Charles Schumer, and The Jerusalem Post. Over 180 historians have signed, and we invite you join them. The letter was drafted by our Israel-Palestine Working Group; if you’re interested in contributing to their work you can find out more here, or email marmacpower1@gmail.com.
- On November 21, H-PAD and Massachusetts Peace Action co-hosted a widely-attended webinar on “The Past, Present, and Future of Israel/Palestine” with Professors Sherene Seikaly, Juan Cole, and Zachary Lockman. A recording of the webinar is now available on youtube. This Thursday@ 7pm EST we’re partnering with Massachusetts Peace Action on another, this time featuring Andrew Bacevich. More details here.
- Lewis Siegelbaum of our Israel/Palestine Working Group (IPWG) published a brilliant essay “On Anti-Zionism and Antisemitism: A ‘Non-Jewish’ Jewish Perspective” in The Nation.
- Cory Young of our working group on the AHA resolution “In Defense of the Right to Learn” published a hard-hitting blog, “Historians Must Affirm the Right to Learn” in the AAUP’s Academe.
- If you haven’t yet, please join our rapid response network to support K-12 teachers, Historians-On-Call!
- At the AHA in January, H-PAD and the Radical History Review will have a mini-conference of our own! Look out for more information in a coming email.
- Finally, please support us with an end-of-year contribution!
